And for my next trick, turning Uptown into a small town in Texas! Transformers 4!

Hmmm, wonder which way the filming is?

During the week, a majority of the filming moved to Uptown, one of Chicago’s northerly neighborhoods and right around the corner from where I live. Sadly there weren’t any Transformers in attendance (well, that we know about) but we got a chance to see Mark Wahlberg and T.J. Miller.

An amazing historical building that has fallen into a seriously sad state of disrepair, the Uptown theater closed in 1981, before Transformers was a thing.

  1. Um… “Open Sunday”? I think that’s still illegal down here in Texas. Or maybe in the Transformers movieverse, Texas decided that evidence of aliens warring all over the place was enough to make them change their mind. *hiccup*

    • As long as all they are selling is wine and beer but no liquor on Sundays between noon and midnight, they’re in the clear.
Oh, Texas and its colonial-era blue laws, how I don’t miss that.
